My desire with my Bride of Christ series was to depict the many nations represented in the Church today.
The Bride of Christ is a prominent symbol and metaphor used in Scripture to describe God’s relationship with His beloved bride, the Church. Portrayed as the bridegroom in this relationship, Jesus reveals Himself to be faithful, loving and committed to a covenant union with his church, comprised of ALL who believe in Jesus Christ and have accepted His atoning grace and gift of salvation.
The bride is dressed in the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:11–18) and holding the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17), which is the word of God, close to her heart. I included an engraving of the ark of the covenant on the pommel of the sword to represent God’s presence and a menorah to remind us that God’s Word is “a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105). Wheat is also seen as a symbol for those who believe in Christ. Wheat is compared to tares or weeds in the Bible.
